This short is based on a series of images I made regarding the subject of child abuse. That project was originally going to be a video that would be a bombardment of disturbing images, some drawn with crayons in the style of a child, and some to be photographs. That project fortunately fell through for several reasons, one of which being I found my approach to be quite personally disturbing. Toward the end of those images, however, I started drawing the character of the ghost and the bear.

After I did several drawings of the child interacting with those characters, I decided to change the direct of the project. After completing the series of 4 images, I then adapted them into the short available for viewing/downloading here. This was an experiment for me, one of which I am quite proud of. This is one of the first times in which the story was planned out in advance. The images that make up the short were all extracted from the series that this short is an adaptation of. The only part that is original for the short (other than the text) are most of the walls. This makes the animation style kind of like that of Reading Rainbow, where they would just take the pictures from the books, and move as well as modify them to make them appear animate.

Another first in this short for me is the sound design. This is the first time I have worked with original sound rather than using copyrighted music. I watched Boogiepop Phantom, and was so blown away by the audio design, that I had to try my hand at it. All the samples I recorded myself, and all manipulation I did myself.

The second cut was made with Tromadance in mind, but as of yet, I still have not sent it in.
